Printmaking and Zine Design
6th grade studio artists were challenged to create a book cover that represents a story of resilience about themselves or someone they look up to. Artists made multiple prints in different colors using one printing plate and assembled that into a zine. We studied artists and activists who use printmaking and storytelling to make change in their communities! These artists included Kate DeCiccio, Yuyi Morales, Ricardo Levins Morales, and Favianna Rodriguez. By making their prints multiple times, artists explored how color can change a design. By assembling it into a zine, artists thought critically about how assemblage can prepare an artwork for presentation.
